SELF-BUILD NEIGHBOURHOODS

Speculations on a new development model

read me//

Competition proposal for a former industrial site on the river Trent in Nottingham: planned as a self-build neighbourhood, using principles from Right to Build and utilising the WikiHouse open-sourced construction system. Two former warehouse depots are converted into a self-build academy / factory, where the UK's increasing number of self-providers may come to learn about self-provision, and manufacture house components for themselves.

Awarded a Special Commendation in the Isover 2012 Multi Comfort House competition.
